The Lagos Bikeman
The road in my area has a lot of potholes. It gets even worse when it's the rainy season.
While on the bike, I noticed that every other bike heading in the same direction overtook us.
In fact, I counted up to about 5 bikes that passed us.
I then challenged my bikeman.
'Oga, why everyone dey pass us nah?'
He replied that he just got to the area and that he doesn't know how to manoeuvre his way like the other guys.
I then told him to watch the path those ahead were passing and ply the route.
He agreed. That move made our trip even faster.
After a while something happened.
This man suddenly started overtaking those who were ahead of us😄.
I could see the joy on his face😁 and I even was happy that the possibility of me getting to my destination faster grew higher.
Life will be hard if you try to figure EVERYTHING EVERYTIME on your own.
There's nothing totally new under the sun. Someone must have done something about the thing you are about to do.
When you don't know what to do or you don't know better, it's called IGNORANCE.
When you know who you should seek counsel from, who you should watch, ask questions or even choose to serve to enhance your journey but you choose not to so that you can be rated a genius, keep a 'status' or ego, it’s called ARROGANCE.
Both will cost you time, opportunities and resources.
Can you believe that all my bikeman needed was to pay attention to the path others were following, observe the 'how', check if it was 'good' and then humbly & creatively follow the path?
Ask, seek and find.
