Miracles Still Happen 馃槉

After her service year, the only job she could easily pick up was a teaching job in a private school. 

Although the pay wasn't what she dreamt of earning as a graduate but she couldn't resist given that there was no one to help her. 

The school increased her work loaded with little increment.

She barely had time for herself.

Early this year 2022, she left her job as a teacher.

At 29, she felt she should be earning more for the efforts she was putting in. 

When I asked her, she said  'Pelumi, age and strength are inversely proportional'. 

It simply means that 'the older you become, the more strategic you must be about how and where you apply your strength for it's limited. 

She chose to run home lessons, learn UX and brush up her web development skills. 

A parent from her former school contacted her to teach her son on a private level. They agreed the time and price before she resumed

Within one month, the parent of the child noticed that the boy's result had become better.

One day after teaching the boy, she told mother of the boy the things that she could do and that she doesn't mind sending her CV to her.

She sent the CV that same day.

It wasn't to her knowledge that the mother of the boy she was teaching had a friend in Lagos who needed a web developer and had sent the advert to a closed WhatsApp page of her fellow friends the previous day.

The woman immediately forwarded the cv to her friend who called this our lady the next day. 

They scheduled an online/physical interview. 

She went through many tasks which she passed. The last task was for her to design a professionally looking website right in front of everyone.

The website didn't look exactly right sha o馃槵

The interviewer assessed her work and ended the interview with 'we will get back to you' response (job seekers know what this means)馃槄

She left disappointed, she prayed and started working on her website development skills immediately she got home.

That same day, she thought to call the woman who recommended her. She called the woman whose son she was teaching and explained everything. 

Around 8pm which was past work-time, she got a call from HR personnel of the company who first apologized for calling that late and that she should kindly resume the next day.

She was shocked!馃槺

What happened? Two things had happened.

1. This woman had called her friend to kindly fix the lady as an intern for three months (with a reasonable pay 馃槉) and spoke highly of the lady's abilities.

2. The company's website had issues and they needed what this lady knew (given the test she passed) to fix the problem.

So they called her, she fixed it the problem and got the employment letter almost immediately.馃槉馃挭馃徑馃拑馃拑

Nneka and Landlord Palava (True Story)

In June 2022, a school owner got a call from her landlord to remind her of the imminent expiration of the school building rent by November.  Precisely November 2020 (just after COVID), Nneka resigned from working in a bank to start a Nursery and Primary School.  Nneka has always been passionate about educating people. Back in secondary school, she use to organise free Maths class for her friends Fast forward to 2020, she got support from her friends in the bank who borrowed her money to start. King Sunny Ade as a young man and an upcoming artist desired visibility, platforms and money. He was introduced to Chief Bolarinwa Abioro who had a popular record label at that time. The same man used to pay artists like Ayinde Bakare, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and even Pa Ebenezer Obey  On meeting Chief Abioro, KSA prostrated like a proper yoruba champ.  He asked King Sunny Ade questions to which he answered. He was presented a contract to which he appended his signature quickly. He was eager to be heard by the world 馃榿馃拑馃徏馃寧. What he didn't know was that, in that contract it was stated that, on the sale of every album which was then fixed at N6, King Sunny Ade & His boys were entitled to a sum of 20Kobo while His boss got N5.80Kobo .馃檰馃徑‍♂️ You too do the Maths.  Fair?  It took Late Chief Fawehinmi to help King Sunny Ade recover his due after a long court battle.  You will agree that in life some decisions requires time, scrutiny and conviction than others....
