One and Eight = 18

Last Saturday, I was the MC at the birthday party of a young lady who turned 18.

It was an indoor party for about 30 people but one that was well-planned with plenty food😊😋.

Majority of the people present were her friends from everywhere.

Some adults also joined the party.

As we proceeded into the program of the day, the space used started getting fuller and exceeded the intended number.

To my surprise, the space used got so full that some people had to stand as the chairs rented were all filled up. 

I kept wondering how a girl of 18 years old could pull this crowd.

After playing the first round of games, I requested that we should have people come forward to speak about the celebrant. 

It was at this time that I got to know why we had such multitude. 

You should have being there to hear what both the young and old were saying about this '18' year old lady.

Some shared how they met her at a jamb centre and she offered to teach them some subjects for free. 

Some shared how caring and kind she was back in primary school.

Some adults testified as to how responsible and reliable she is.

No wonder they didn't mind standing even before the new set of chairs arrived. 

I asked myself, If a young lady of 18 can pull this crowd, how about when she's celebrating her 50th birthday? 

See what I learnt:

One of the ways to grow in influence and reach is to sow seeds of kindness.

As simple as: greeting people on their birthdays, liking a person's post that you got value from, saying thank you to people when they show you favour, being humane, showing empathy, standing in for people and showing up. 

Another lesson is this, NOT everyone will forget your seeds of kindness.

You will be surprised how that in the day of your need, you will call for one, 10 or even 100 persons will yield show up.
